Have you tried cake balls?

Cake balls are a sweet treat that combines cake, frosting and chocolate. Crumble prepared cake and mix it with frosting. The mixture is shaped into balls and set in a candy shell. Although smooshed cake doesn't sound very tasty, all the ingredients come together to make a delicious cake truffle.

Some people prefer to use the same cake and frosting flavor. For example, lemon cake with lemon frosting is a popular choice. Vanilla, buttercream and cream cheese frosting highlight the cake flavor while adding a rich, creamy flavor to cake truffles.

I like to use add-ins such as chopped pecans to create one-of-a-kind cake balls. Check out this recipe to make basic cake balls. Then try your hand at finding the perfect flavor combination. So far, the butter pecan cake balls are the holiday favorite.
